Players in the one-minute online puzzle game Cladder must use hints to decipher 10 words. To solve all ten clues, participants have 60 seconds. You will be given a three- or four-letter starting word along with a hint that will direct you to the answer by switching one letter from the prior word.
For instance, if the hint says, "to run fast," and your seed word is CASH, you'll need to switch the C for a D to make the word DASH (don't worry about potential spoilers; this isn't a real Cladder answer!).
To understand the next hint, substitute a letter from the word DASH into a new word. If the clue says, "A plate of food," for instance, change the A into an I to form the word "dish." If you choose the wrong answer, you won't be penalized, and if you wait long enough because you're having problems, Cladder will point out the wrong letter. You don't want to hold up your busy schedule by waiting around for too long.
If you're completely baffled and unsure of how to proceed, you just have one skip option, but it costs five seconds of your permitted 60 seconds.
Similar to Wordle, there is only one new Cladder puzzle posted every day, but there is good news if that's not enough for you: you can play the entire archive of past Cladder puzzles if you wish. Simply click the play button to open a menu that includes the archive option, which will take you to a numbered grid listing all previous Cladder game days.
Along with choosing between the dark and light versions, you have the option of playing in one of three modes:
