Sandtrix, a Tetris-inspired arcade game, has taken the internet by storm! The independent developer mslivo created the block-placing game, which is the second title on their itch.io page after Itera Mall, a 2D mall management simulator.
The difference between Sandtrix and the popular arcade game is that all of the pieces are made of sand! When a piece comes into touch with a previously placed block, it will disintegrate into sand, filling up the space around it exactly like sand.
Another twist on the classic is that instead of merely covering a space, a 'line' must be wall to wall of the same sand hue. This mechanism makes the game significantly more challenging than the conventional game, yet it is no less rewarding. There are 5x5 difficulty settings in the game to provide a sufficient challenge for all Tetris masters out there.
Examine the shape and color of the next block on the in-game display to the right of the playfield. Shift the block and rotate it. Accelerate its descent if desired. To build lines, continue to position blocks near matching sand mounds.
There are many other games developed under Connections NYT, let's try them out
