Yeardle, a novel version of the game, forbids the use of words entirely, instead forcing players to recall their high school history classes.
Yeardle presents players with three historical events and challenges them to determine the year in which they occurred. Players are given eight chances to get it right, and their incorrect answers, like in Wordle, are repurposed as color-coded hints. Guesses that are more than 200 years off appear gray, whereas guesses that are 40 to 200 years off appear brown. Accurate guesses appear in red, orange, and yellow, with green indicating a correct answer.
