Datele

What is Datele?

Datele is a game in which players attempt to estimate a specific historical date within a given timeframe. The game provides clues and feedback to help players narrow down their guesses. Changes in tile colors reflect how near a guess is to the real date.

Game Rules

Guessing the Date: Players begin by making their initial guess for the historical date. They entered the date using a combination of numerals and special characters. To fill gaps before the year 1000 CE, players use the space key (e.g., " 476"), and for BCE dates, they use the minus key (e.g., " -31").

Clues and Feedback: The game provides visual feedback by changing the color of the squares after each guess. The color changes show how close the guess was to the correct date. The warmer the color, the closer the guess; the cooler the color, the further away.

Players are normally given six chances to predict the correct date. The issue is to use these efforts strategically in order to glean as much information as possible from the responses.
